How to join the club
If you would like to join the running club, please sign up at our membership website. The cost for a year’s membership is £70 (reviewed annually), but if you join part-way during our membership year, there is a reduced membership fee which will be shown during the registration process. After you sign up, there is a manual approval process.
You can also optionally join England Athletics for an additional £20. This provides you with a number of benefits, including discounts when entering EA registered events and entitlement to enter County/Regional/National Championships. It is also required if you wish to enter the Club ballot for any Club places for the London Marathon.
Membership fees are largely to cover our Clubhouse which offers:
- Changing rooms with showers,
- Licensed bar (open on Club night), function room and meeting room
- Kitchen (open on Club night, providing hot food at very reasonable prices)
- Cricket field, used for some of our coached training sessions
Membership benefits include an extensive programme of coaching sessions for running and also for biking and swimming (through our multisport section Stortford Tri), Club events and races, personalised training plans, social functions and great people to run with.
If you have any questions or would like to let us know about coming along and trying us out, please contact the Membership Secretary at membership@bsrc.org.uk

Try before you buy
You are welcome to join us for a few sessions before committing to joining the club. We offer a two-week trial during which you can register for our coached interval sessions on Tuesdays and Saturdays and come to our social runs on Wednesday evenings which start at our clubhouse. Sign up for the two-week trial here and during the sign-up process select Adult (Trial) for the category.
After you’ve signed up for and been approved for the free trial, you can register for the interval sessions and join the Wednesday social runs. We strongly recommend you try the Wednesday evening social run where you will meet many of our members and have a drink after running. We meet at our clubhouse at 19:00 for weekly notices and then go out at 19:15. You won’t be left on your own, as groups run at various paces and we make sure everyone has someone to run with. For the interval sessions, you must register on myclubhouse as numbers are limited, but for the Wednesday social run you can just turn up (provided you are a member or have registered for a trial).
Each year we also run a beginners course which is a structured programme aimed at enabling beginners to run a 10K in only 10 weeks. Outside of that we can still help you get started in running.
