The Club meets at the clubhouse in Beldams Lane every Wednesday. The clubhouse is open from 19:15 with runs starting at 19:30. This is the session that we recommend any new members – regardless of ability, from beginners to regular runners – to come along to. If you are looking to come to the club for the first time, and you can’t make it along on a Wednesday, then please get in touch via the Contacts page.
Any new runners are paired up with a running buddy or suitable group to take them round one of our regular routes. Runs vary in length between 3 and 10 miles depending on what people are training for. From April to August, the nearby Hatfield Forest is put to good use with runs typically ranging from 7-9 miles. From September through to March, Wednesday night runs head through and around Bishop’s Stortford. Most people are finished running by 21:00.
The clubhouse has showers and a bar and food provided (bookable a week in advance) and most runners stay for a drink and chat with fellow runners. At 21.00 the Chair or Vice Chair gives the week’s notices including events and results.
We have a top quality attending sports therapist, who is available at the club most Wednesdays at favourable rates to club members.
If you’re coming along for the first time, feel free to give us a call before hand. We operate a ‘buddy running’ system to ensure all club attendees have the option to run with an allocated companion if they wish.
We also run two coached sessions a week at the Clubhouse – Tuesday evening at 19:15 and Saturday mornings at 10:15.
With a strong Triathlon and Multisport section in the Club we also have swimming and biking training sessions every week which are open to all BSRC members. Visit the Stortford Tri pages for more information.
BSRC headquarters is at Hockerill Sports & Social Club on Beldams Lane off the A1060 Hallingbury Road. This position gives our membership instant access to the rural surroundings in which the town is set. Many of our training runs take place through the Hertfordshire countryside and in particular through nearby Hatfield Forest.
