Le Tour De Stort
Le Tour De Stort was started in 2000 to offer a tough but achievable challenge for Club members, with four days of back-to-back racing over a variety of distances and terrains.
It was based on the structure of the old Tour of Epping Forest hosted by Woodford Green AC, which several of our Club took part in during the late 80s and early 90s before the event died due to lack of volunteers to organise it (a familiar story?).
Twelve runners completed the first Tour in 2000 and the highest number of finishers (ie all four races, though you are welcome to do as many as you can make) was 25 in 2003, 2004 and 2007. With our ever-increasing membership it would be good to see a few more taking up the challenge.
The TDS aims to make the most of the long light evenings and is fitted in to the summer calendar once the Mid Week League races have been scheduled.
